Ayurvedic Cooking Services

Ayurvedic wisdom infused meals. Locally sourced food. Nutritious. Delicious.

Nature’s wisdom is all around us.

You simply have to be open like the sky is to the sun.

The kitchen is not only the heart of the home, you can think of it as your own personal pharmacy. Growing up my mom made everything from scratch and my dad tended to the huge garden in our backyard. It would only be years later, after college, that I would realize how those two things made a huge impact on my consciousness as a child.

Where we get our food from and how we prepare it- is everything. Its actually the cornerstone  of Ayurvedic cooking. I have spent the last two decades cooking at retreats, serving food in restaurants, completed an Ayurvedic chef training, and continue to play in the kitchen and draw inspiration from recipes around me and how to “Ayurvedize” them!

What we eat should energize us, sustain us, and taste delicious- because we are here to celebrate life; and food will always be a touchstone in that celebration.

All the world seeks food. It is the life source of all beings.

Clarity, longevity, intelligence, happiness, contentment, strength,

and knowledge are all rooted in food.”

— Charaka

I have an endless undying love for the wilderness and nature, and food is one of our richest connections to it.

It is our love in action and our celebration of life. Cooking and eating are the most powerful ways we can take care of ourselves; and they remind us that humanity, nature, and food are all pieces from the same vibrant quilt.

Our food should nourish us, delight us, and support us to thrive; and when it does it, we begin to show up in our lives more powerfully then we ever thought we could.

I was a partial photograhy major in college, I didn’t see myself ending up in the holistic health world, but cooking remains one of the ways I connect to my creativity. Spending time in the kitchen allows me to connect to the senses, where a sort of mystical alchemy takes place.

When I cook a meal, I aim for three things.

  1. The food should taste delicious

  2. It should be easy to digest.

  3. And it should be abundant in high quality nutrients.

Along the way to modern living, we lost our connection to making food and conscious eating.

It can go one of two ways when it comes to what you put inside of your body: food can be healing or it can be poison. Ayurveda teaches us that both diet and lifestyle are important when it conforms to transforming your health.

Yet the foods we eat are the primary cause of disease, but food should be your primary source of medicine!

Even though Ayurveda is a five thousand year old science of living from India, its principles can be taken and applied to a wide variety of cooking styles from all around the world.  This means when I cook for you the food will be versatile, nutritious and delicious!

As it should be! I’m not sure where the stigma came from if you eat healthy food you have to sacrifice pleasure- but it is my opinion that when the food tastes good AND you feel well afterwards- this is the true essence of a holistic culinary experience.

Empower your relationship with food.

Not knowing what foods to eat, how to cook them, or having the time to connect with your food is the road to disease, and I know from personal experience. For most of us, living in this fast-paced, modern world means you work hard and often find yourself depleted and exhausted.

My offerings are here to help you feel empowered by your relationship with food and eating;  whether that involves me cooking for you or helping you find sustainable ways to integrate holistic cooking so that you can ultimately feel better and carry on with all aspects of your life. Years ago I used to get chronic constipation. I couldn’t even focus while at work. I was not living, I was barely existing.

Cooking with Ayurvedic wisdom in freeing. Freshly made, whole foods have their prana or life force, which makes them easier to digest, and with long-term consumption they allow you to strengthen your digestive fire.
This is not a modern day dieting fad, restrictive diet, or meant to limit what you are eating. In fact, it’s quite the opposite. It is learning how to slowly heal and be patience with the process.

Once you agni (digestive fire) is strengthened, prana (life force) is flowing, and your doshas are balanced, you can bring back whole foods into your diet that you may have written off.

What does that look like?

Eat the cake.

Have the occasional burger.

Eat the wheat, dairy, nuts, and throw away whatever your allergy test said you were “allergic” to.

Cooking is our creative spirit in action. Our food should raise our consciousness, inspires us and increase our energy and vitality.

It is my honor to share this wisdom that was passed down to me from my teachers, and the rishis, and from mama Gaia herself.

Nature’s wisdom is all around us.

You simply have to be open like the sky is to the sun.
